Paris S/S 09: Chanel

I am loving the SS09 Chanel collection. There is some thing quirky, modern and refreshing about it, that is nonetheless quite Chanel (of study course!).
The reinterpreted plaid pattern is a refreshing twist on the basic Chanel prints. The approach involved in developing some of the structures (i.e. above right), is also modern day and chic.
The night use were divine. I love the a lot more calm silhouette during the collection- significantly more forgiving for all physique types. The black dress here (left) is in fact one of my favourites. The higher portion, with the sheer cloth helps make it modest yet subtly provocative at the same time- really elegant and elegant. The white dress (proper) is admittdely not the most flattering shape on the runway, but there is just a thing really intriguing about the perform on quantity and the fragile floral specifics here.
Then there were gorgeous tiered tulle attire in shape for a fairy princess. Ok, the cape (left) is a bit also a lot with that dress, but the bolero (also a scorching merchandise on this runway) is the perfect compliment to the seriously tiered gown on the correct.
Onto components- see what I imply by quirky, with this vertical traditional flap bag (left)? The leather browsing bag (correct), is perfect and really clever for the entire “road” theme of the show, but I desire they are not preparing to market it in shops. Otherwise some misguided soul may possibly just buy it and turn out to be a walking advertisement- and not even the excellent type!
It seems that the peep toe bootie (left) is surely right here to continue to be for an additional time or two…. I guess I better get utilised to it. It isn’t going to appear far too weird here. And the feathers here (right) creates just the perfect dramatic result for the runway, but they are certainly not suited for rainy/muddy/humid weather. Thankfully, the sneakers appear beautiful without the feathers as nicely, and I am confident Karl will be commercial minded ample to create them devoid of the feathers for the stores (or possibly they will be attachable!).

A single issue I’m unsure about although are the two tone stockings featured during the show. It seems a bit like Karl is attempting to place a new spin on the much over completed legging pattern, but I never know, the spin is not that new and it cuts the model’s legs off in an unflattering way, creating them look short. The stockings on his F/W 08 runway is way far better.
